Review of Alex Flynn’s book, Beastly: By AnimalLover

I like  Beastly because it is a good book. This book is not boring at all. The book is little scary ,but it is ok because something good is going to happen. When I read this it was awesome because it is sad and happy.
Alex Flynn is the author. She has two girls and there name are Katie and Meredith. Her husband’s  name is Gene.
This is my summary for Beastly. First Kyle thinks he is all perfect. He has Magna, the maid, to go to the store and get a white rose. Then a witch came and turned Kyle into a furry beast. Then he can’t go out of his house. He can go out in the winter time because he wears a lot of clothes.
The witch turned Kyle in to a beast because he was mean to people that don’t have  good looks. A girl have to like Kyle and they have to kiss.
The people that live with Kyle are  Magna, Will, and Lindy.
The story ended when Lindy kissed Kyle when he was a beast and he got turn back to Kyle.
In the movie Beauty and the Beast  the people that live in the castle turn into objects which is different from Beastly.
They made a movie of Beastly. Alex Flynn thinks of the movie that the beast wasn’t scary. I think you guys would this book because it is mystery, scary, and good.

Giraffes By: AnimalLover

Giraffes like to eat Acacia leaves, and can eat up to 75 pounds. They drink up to 10 gallons of waters when they eat Acacia leaves. Their hearts are 2 feet and weigh about 25 pounds. They have a black tongue that doesn’t get sunburn. It is 18 inch longs. Acacia trees have long thorns on the tree so other animals won’t try to eat the leaves. It doesn’t affect giraffes. That is why they have a long tongue. Did you know that giraffe can moo, hiss, roar and whistle to communicate with other animals? The tails of giraffes are 8 feet long. For a long time people called giraffes a “camelopardalis”.
They learn how to hammer other giraffes with their horns. When the giraffes bend down to drink water it is easier for a predator to attack the giraffes.  When giraffes go up to the water to drink the other giraffes watch for a predator. Females give birth to a calf about 15 months after they mate with a male. Females use their hooves to defend their little ones. The mother stands up when they’re giving birth. The calf is like two meteors tall.

The Auction: by SoldierBoy

The auction is something we do on Friday. We buy items out of the treasure chest by bidding on them.  If there is one hand left in the air, the person with the hand in the air wins. To bid in the auction we use checkbooks that the teachers give us: if we are good we get paid, if were bad we get money deducted. We can bid on yoyos, candy, toys, necklaces and some odd things.

Open House by: MinnieMouse

Open house at Ava White Academy took place on August 11, at 5:00-7:00 p.m. I was excited about coming to open house at Ava White Academy because I would get to see some old friends from last year and also get to meet some new friends that are in your class during the new school year.
I like the academy being on the 3rd floor because the classrooms are much bigger and there is more room to walk around in your classrooms during each break after sessions are done. When I met Kallie at the open house I immediately knew that we would become friends right away.

Big Pie In The Sky: By Zathan Z

Big Pie in the Sky is a pizzeria that opened in 2007 where they make a pizza that is 30 inches across.   NOW that is BIG! This restaurant is in Kennesaw, Georgia, which is the Atlanta area. Even the slices are as big as a baby!

At the Big Pie in the Sky you can choose to take the Carnivore Challenge.  Adam Richman, host of Man vs. Food, took the Carnivore with a partner but unfortunately they failed. Since then people have beaten the challenge. The challenge is to eat an 11 pound pizza covered in all sorts of meat and the meat alone is 6 lbs. out of the 11 pound pizza.

The Rules of the Challenge:
·         You must eat the entire pizza in under one hour.
·         You cannot throw up, and if you do, you are responsible for the cleanup! If you are going to throw up, do it outside, in the trash can, or make it to the bathroom.
·         You cannot leave the table once you start the time, you can stand up walk around and let your food settle, but you cannot leave the general vicinity.
·         If we catch you violating the rules you will be immediately disqualified. The rules are very firm and we do enforce them!
I have gone to the Big Pie in the Sky myself with my dad and my brother. I have ordered the extra large pizza but not with the meat. The pizza tasted excellent; everyone that lives on this planet should taste it!

LEGO Fun Facts: By Zathan Z

According to an article in BusinessWeek in 2006, LEGO could be considered the world's Number 1 tire manufacturer because the factory produces about 306 million tiny rubber tires a year.” That is a small tire but a really big number!
More than 400 billion LEGO bricks have been produced since 1949.  If all of them were stacked on top of each other this would be enough to connect the Earth and the Moon ten times over. Children in Brazil have built the tallest LEGO tower in the world. With some help from their parents and a crane, these children built a LEGO tower which consisted of 500,000 which is a lot of pieces of LEGO and it is 102ft tall. It just beat the old record of 101ft set in Chile November.
In 1934 the company and its products now take on the name LEGO, which is formed from the Danish words” leggodt” (play well).LEGO’s are fun and they come in all sorts of genres like aliens, space, miners, movie themes, city life, and a lot more! So no matter what, any child will enjoy any LEGO set depending on what they like!

Story of Samurai: by Soldier Boy

Samurai were warriors that fought for Japanese noblemen. They often work for the highest bidder. Samurai were sly. They sometimes betrayed the noblemen who hired them. The beginning of the Samurai dates back to the 9th century, but in time in the 19th century the Samurai were not really taught to fight at all.
In 1853 Commodore Mathew Parry of the U.S came to Japan. The Shogun, the military leader of Japan, was ruling in the name of the emperor, but in fact the emperor had no power at all. When the peasants got the idea that the Shogun was not a good ruler they bought weapons from America. The Shogun sent Samurai armed with swords, bows, and arrows, vs. Peasants with guns. You can imagine how that turned out: the Samurai were utterly destroyed in battle. The Samurai had armor made out of wood, and they had to get close to their enemy to kill them. Because of this, the Samurai  were not effective, and the Samurai died from gunshot wounds. There are no Samurai warriors anymore, but there are people teaching the way of the Samurai today.
